This book serves to incorporate the Maine Bugs Series by Greg LaBonte in one location! Greg has spent over a decade intensely studying and observing aquatic ecosystems in Maine. Aquatic macroinvertebrates are an essential dietary requirement for trout and salmon in Maine. However, there are many aquatic invertebrates that live in Maine’s waterways. How do you know which one to imitate? Greg has come to determine that there are 5 aquatic insects that rule the rivers of Maine in terms of fly fishing. Here, Greg highlights each life stage of those 5 insects from an angler’s perspective. Each insect featured will include life stages, fly imitations of those life stages, how and when to fish the fly, factoids about the life stage, and an instructional video to show you how to tie that pattern.
