Kaufmann introduced the Stimulator pattern in 1982 to imitate salmon flies. The Stimulator also makes a good hopper imitation. Up here in Maine we use them to imitate big stone flies in the late spring, which we often call “big uglies”. This is a great fly for a dry dropper rig as well. Built with a foam body and plenty of hackle to keep this fly high and dry. Tied on a size 10 barbless hopper hook.
Tied by Logan Messina in Solon, Maine.
