Mickey Finn

The Mickey Finn is a fantastic fall streamer pattern and works especially well for Maine Brook Trout! This fly has been around since the early 1900’s, and has some interesting history. In 1937 at the New York Sportsman Show it was said that there were over 300,000 Mickey Finn’s tied and sold. The creator of this colorful streamer gave it the name, “Mickey Finn” which is code for a spiked cocktail given to an unknowing person. For trout, the Mickey Finn fly was considered as deadly as a super strong drink. Casting this bright colored fly across a river and quickly retrieving it with short quick movements should get an angler well on their way to hooking up with an aggressive trout. Tied on a classic size 6 straight eye streamer hook.
