Hot Spot Stone Fly
Time: Short Difficulty: Medium Season: All
This hot spot stone is just a little mix up from your every day stonefly nymph. Black stoneflies are typically most active in late winter or early spring, often being the first hatches of the year. This pattern is therefore a great pattern to use early season. However, use it as a lead nymph in a tandem rig throughout the year to get it down deep!
INGREDIENTS
- Hook: Any nymph hook sizes 4-10
- Thread: Danville fly master plus 140 denier black and white
- Body: Clear medium vinyl ribbing
- Body Color: Sharpie’s (black and orange)
- Legs: Orange/black silly legs
- Thorax: Hareline ice dub UV black
- Head: Appropriate bead, I like the darker color for the black stonefly
